Homes. Stability. Community. Opportunity.
Our mission is to create strong neighborhoods, enabling community members to secure a stable home, achieve economic mobility, and determine their own future.
The Neighborhood Developers:
More Than Housing
For over 45 years, The Neighborhood Developers (TND) has worked to make sure that more people, especially those often left out, can live in safe, affordable homes and build brighter futures. Their mission goes beyond bricks and mortar. It’s about creating neighborhoods where families can stay, grow, and lead.
Based in Chelsea, Revere, and Everett and now expanding into surrounding areas, TND is a nonprofit community development corporation with deep roots and lasting impact.
Affordable Homes That Last
TND develops housing that stays affordable and protects longtime residents from being pushed out. Their work has helped hundreds of residents find stability and opportunity:
712 rental homes developed and preserved
50 affordable homes for purchase completed, with 5 more underway
More than 1,500 residents supported across their rental portfolio
Their housing isn’t just about today. It’s built to serve families for generations.
Services That Build Stability
Through their CONNECT program, TND makes it easier for residents to build financial strength and plan for the future. Support is available in Chelsea, Revere, and Everett and includes:
Financial coaching
Workforce development and job training
Help with food, housing, healthcare, and public benefits
Free tax preparation
Each year, thousands of people use CONNECT to move toward goals like homeownership, debt reduction, or returning to school.
Real Community Leadership
TND doesn’t just involve residents - they invest in them.
Residents shape policy. Through programs like the Housing Equity Committee, community members have helped pass eviction protections, advocate for rent stabilization, and push for affordable housing funding.
Residents vote on change. They don’t just give input. They help make decisions.
Residents become leaders. Former clients and neighbors are now TND staff and board members, building leadership from within.
This approach creates long-term ownership, not just short-term service. When people are trusted, supported, and included, they become the foundation of stronger communities.
